Fallen Out Of Love With Your Business And Want A Business You Are Passionate About?
If you have fallen out of love with your business and feel there is no way out, then you will want to read on. There are millions of people who look upon their business as a millstone that is chained to their ankles and only see it as a means to an end but feel there is no other option but to carry on. You mat be one of these hardworking small business owners so what I am about to share with you over the next few minutes may be the lifeline that you have been looking for.
Hello, Pete Harris here and I want to ask you a question. When you wake up in the morning do you feel inspired and passionate about your business? Is there a sense of déjà vu with the knowledge of what lays ahead? Is your business just a means to and end to put food on the table and a roof over your head?
I am sure that when you started your business, however long ago that was, you had the sense of excitement and anticipation for the journey that you were about to start, I know I did getting on for thirty years ago now which is a scary thought. We all had an idea, not necessarily to make millions, to create something out of a seed and then nurture that seed into something that would bring us fulfilment as well as earning a comfortable living. So, we ran with it not truly knowing where it may take us.
In the early stages you, like I, had the motivation to get out of bed in the morning champing at the bit to develop the business, working long hours but it didn’t seem like work because there was a purpose to doing it. That end goal and dream of what life would look like when you started to see the fruits of your labour. The lifestyle that you could have with the people who you love.
My Story In Business
My own story is that way back in 1990 I took the brave decision, some people thought stupid, to start my own business basically because I was fed up working for someone else. I concluded that for all the hard work I was putting in I may as well do that for myself and see 100% of the profits.
So, I started an open-air market stall business with my then partner. We were in the baby and children’s clothing niche along with selling accessories such as baby baths, cribs and nappies or diapers if you prefer. We bought the initial inventory and stall framework, lined up a panel van and hit the road. Our first market was on a Sunday at a speedway track in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England.
A 5.00am start and we were buzzing because this was the start of our dream. We arrived at the venue and were allocated a pitch which would be ours for as long as we wanted it, our home every Sunday morning.
Then the fun began. To be fair neither of us really knew what we were doing, putting the stall up was like a sketch from a comedy show but that feeling of passion for doing something we wanted to do is a feeling that every business owner should have.
We had a great time on the markets, we met a lot of amazing people in other stall holders and customers. It was great to serve them and see the joy they had when they purchased from us. Unfortunately, through the economic landscape of the early 1990’s with recession hitting the United Kingdom we had to close that business down as we simply were not making enough money, it really broke our hearts but with a baby to look after I knew that things had to change.
At that point I had two options. The first going back to the printing trade that I had spent 5 years in, I could have walked back in with no trouble but that was not for me. I was my own boss and that was how it going to stay. So, I set up my cleaning business and although it was again totally different from what I had ever done I then got the excitement and passion back because it was a start of a new journey and chapter of my life.
My Cleaning Business
It took some time to build up the business and I must admit I did reconsider getting a proper job, but I knew as soon as I did that, I would be stuck there for the rest of my life which is not what I wanted. I eventually found some traction in my business and financial pressures eased. I enjoyed what I did as I was meeting people every day and getting paid daily, so cash flow was good.
The trouble is that over the years the passion I had for that business ebbed away. I was doing the same things day in and day out. I introduced new services to my business to break things up a bit but really my business was a job that I owned. I took on contract work to bring in more money for the family and the result of that was I didn’t see so much of my wife and kids and when I was there, I was too tired to do anything.
The marriage broke up and I lost the day to day contact with the kids so with those responsibilities I really became trapped within my business as the money was there on paper, I had to turn up, trade my time for money to make sure that my kids had what they needed.
Fortunately for me I met a beautiful lady called Lynn who is now my wife, the person I love with all my heart and my best friend. My life became a lot easier financially which gave me the option to look outside of my business again to see if there were any opportunities to do something different.
To my surprise there were plenty when I looked online through our dear old friend Google. Now I don’t want to get into details of the different business models in this post, I will save that for another day so make sure you keep your eye out for that.
Your Opportunity To Create A Business You Are Truly Passionate About
What I want to do is to make you aware of the possibility of escaping from the business you have now to one that will reignite the fire and passion in your belly. Now I promise you this is not hype. I am not going to tell you about some magic formula or push button profit system because frankly they do not work, I know because I have tried them and lost money in the process.
What I want to do is to get you to think about what you are passionate about in life. Specifically, I want you to think about the experience you have either in business or your hobbies. What are you good at and what are you interested in.? The reason is that you can guarantee that other people all around the world will be interested as well.
So, to move this on a bit because I know your time is precious and I appreciate you still being with me I want you to consider the concept of turning your experience and passion into something that impacts the lives of other people by providing solutions to their problems and serving them. A concept that will allow you to have more freedom in your life to do the things that you love and earn an income at the same time.
As a traditional business owner, myself I was unaware of this concept until I came across an on-demand online workshop which opened my eyes to the possibilities that are available. This was just 3 – 4 years ago and the workshop has recently been updated so I know that this would be something that would really benefit you.
Here Are Your Options
If you are feeling trapped in your business and have no passion for doing it anymore then here are your options. The first is to carry on and use it as a means to and end but you will still be trapped, nothing will change, and you will still be in the same situation in 10 years’ time. Is that really what you want?
The second is to shut the business down and look for a regular job with a salary at the end of the month but the reality is that you will still be trapped. This time trading your time for money, having to be at work at a certain time and not being allowed to leave until later in the day. Also, there is no guarantee that your job will always be there. Businesses go bust everyday or the workforce is constantly being streamlined. You have no control which is not a nice feeling.
The other option is to consider the concept that I have made you aware of. To build something totally new that you have passion for every day. To do this click here to learn more about this brand new on-demand workshop. You can also find it under the Free Training tab at the top of this page.
You have to work to live but you shouldn’t have to live to work. If you are doing something that you are truly passionate about then it wouldn’t feel like work. Click here to for the free workshop.
I wish you every success.
