Internet marketing is a constant learning curve so I have come up with 6 internet marketing tips that I am sure will help you in the smoothe running of your business.
You will get many different opinions and there are lots of people offering internet marketing tips so I have based these on my own experiences and the lessons I have learnt and hopefully have not made the same mistakes again.
1 – Your Customers Are Real People. What you must realise is that although you have a digital business your customers are real people so your business has to be personal.
Your customers and prospects have real problems and they are looking for solutions that they are paying you real money to provide them with.
These points may seem obvious but it is easy to get detached because your customers are fixed behind your computer screen.
When you are coming up with ideas for your next project try and think about the people you are trying to attract. Put yourself in their position and it will be easier to market your next product or service.
2 – Create Your Authority Site. Your website must reflect the products and services you are offering. If you have your own products or if you are an authority in your field then build your website around you. If it is niche specific then the content and products must be relative.
You must have a clear vision of your business and what you want to do and use that vision as a frame for your website.
Your domain must reflect that frame. If you personally are the brand then try to incorporate your name in the domain name. Again if it is a specific niche then your name must be relative.
Pack your website with quality unique content and use images because that keeps people engaged. Promote products in the form of banners and links embedded within your articles.
3 – Build Your List. Your list of subscribers will become your most valuable asset. It gives you the opportunity communicate to your prospects and subscribers.
To enable you to build your list you must have an auto-responder service. There are many providers but my preference is Aweber.
Through your auto-responder service ou have the ability to form relationships with your customers and have the chance to promote your own products or affiliate offers to them.
You can offer a series of emails offering valuable informaion to entice the prospect to opt into your list. You then place an opt in form onto your website.
It is widely accepted that each subscriber is worth $1 per month so you can see how powerful this strategy is.
4 – Outsourcing. Don’t be a jack of all trades and a master of none. Find out what you are good at and concentrate on those aspects of your business. For the things that you are not so good at outsource them.
You may be technically challenged when it comes to creating images and headers for your website so don’t sit there for hours doing it. You can get this done and a whole host of other tasks done for just a few dollars.
Work out what you think your time is worth per hour. Anything you can get done for less than this amount then outsourcing is the way to go. Concentrate on more productive things yourself meaning money producing activities.
5 – Lead Generation – As a general rule of thumb spend around 50% of your time generating leads. This is the lifeblood of your business. When you are starting out then this should be your main priority.
As you business grows and you turn leads into customers you may be able to scale back to concentrate on your existing customers but you still need to remain focused on generating leads for the prosperity of your business.
6 – Tracking Your Results. The most skilled and successful marketers always track what they are doing. They know where their leads and sales are coming from.
By the same token they can analyse what advertising campaigns are not performing so they can turn them off instead of wasting money.
When you do this and find a nugget of gold then you can then scale things up and make more profit.
Also when tracking you can split test. This means you can have multiple ads running to multiple squeeze pages and sales pages. This give you the chance to analyse the data and pick the winning ticket.
