The Home Based Business Lifestyle
In this first post in this lifestyle series I would like to talk about what kind of lifestyle you could enjoy by running a home based business.
The home based business sector is continuing to grow enormously and there is no suggestion that it will slow down anytime soon.
Everyday people are jumping on this runaway train because it is very easy to start a home based business due to the technological resources that are available as well as being a very cost effective way to start out in business compared to let’s just say the more traditional business models.
Throughout this lifestyle series I will be looking at the more traditional business methods as well as mainstream careers and compare them to what a home based business could deliver in the way of the time and financial freedom you could enjoy.
Before we get onto what the home based business lifestyle is all about it may be beneficial for you to look at your circumstances at the moment. If by assessing the day to day aspects of your working life and what you don’t like about it will probably give you a clearer idea of what working from home could be like.
- You may be constantly fed up with the long commute in the morning and afternoon.
- Working har for an unappreciative boss and being told what to do and when to do it.
- Having to ask for time off when you want to take a holiday.
- Working with colleagues who you don’t respect and you dislike.
- Having someone constantly over your shoulder with the dreaded time in motion clipboard.
- You may already have your own business and are finding it tough with all the high overheads that you are facing.
- Maybe you are having a lot of stress trying to reach unrealistic targets that have been set for you. There is nothing wrong with having targets and goals but imagine if you were the one setting them for yourself.
These are just a snippet of the reasons you may not happy doing what you are doing and having a home based business maybe just what you need.
Before we go any further. In my opinion having a home based business means that you are your own boss but I think it is slightly different to being the traditional self employed person.
Let me explain and I will use myself as the example. I have been self employed since 1990. I have my own cleaning business and I specifically visit regular clients on a monthly basis. I clean their windows, carpets and driveways. You name it and I will clean it. If you are a builder, carpenter, electrician, plumber or whatever that is what you do, end of.
Now on the other hand, and I fall into that camp as well, if you have a home based business then suddenly you enter the world of being an entrepreneur. The world is your oyster and you have so many opportunities avaialble to you.
It’s All About The Lifestyle!
Fortunately for myself I have the best of both worlds and I appreciate that this is not the case for many people. I am in the process of winding down my cleaning business so that I can concentrate solely on my internet business to give me the lifestyle that I am looking for. Meaning more time and flexibilty to do the things I want to do.

Fot this I am going to talk about a home based business which is internet based. I appreciate that there are many home based business models out there such as child minding, personal training, home tutoring as well as many more.
For me that is like having a job but working from home as you still have the aspects of dealing with people during set hours and basically working for a living. It is not a lifestyle which is far more important.
