How Does The Traditional Self Employed Lifestyle Compare To A Digital Home Based Business Lifestyle?
Following on in this series I would like to touch on how the traditional self employed lifestyle compares to having a digital home based business.
If you have not had the opportunity to read my previous post on the home based business lifestyle you can by clicking here.
I have been self employed since 1990 when I started a market stall business and then I started my own cleaning business.
I must admit I have never regretted becoming self employed although at many points along the way it has been very challenging.
Saying that the self employed lifestyle offers so much in the way of flexibility because you can do the work you want and when you want. You make all the decisions and you live and die by which ones you make.
Many people think that it is an easy life being self employed until they enter the world of being your own boss.
Traditional self employed people know exactly how hard it is to start and develop a new venture. It also in most cases requires a lot of start up capital which can take many months or even years to see a return on your investment.
There are hundreds of different trades or jobs that you can do on a self employed basis but what I would emphasise is that at then end of the day it is just a job!
For myself I am established within my industry and have a regular client base of around 300. I don’t have to advertise anymore but it was not always like that.
I have walked many miles knocking on doors offering my services to build up my business and I would say it took about 12-18 months to get it to a stage where I had full time work.
If you are a builder, plumber, electrician, carpenter you have to rely on the phone ringing. This means advertising and hoping that the work will come. A scary proposition if you have bills to pay.
If you have a high street shop you have to endure high running costs of the premises with rent, utility bills and the money you have invested in stock waiting to be sold.
That also is a scary proposition as well. Sometimes all you can see is physical money sitting on the shelves, I should know because I often thought about it when I had my market stall.
Sometimes I had as much as £5000 worth of stock hanging in the stall hoping people would buy it so I could make a profit. Basically it is dead money until you sell it.
Also with a high street premises whether that be retail or office you are reliant on people walking through the door. You may have the best product or service but if they don’t come in you sell nothing.
With my cleaning business I am reliant on the weather as most of the work is outside. If it rains, snows or is physically too cold then I can’t work.
It frustrates me sometimes when I have to sit at home and look outside and I imagine the rain drops as pound coins going down the drain.
So the self employed lifestyle is sometimes not all it is cracked up to be. Saying that I could never work for anybody else again.
Also for the traditionally self employed there are only so many hours in the day where you can trade. For myself there are only so many houses I can clean. Whatever trade you are in you are limited to just how much you can do.
If you want to work 15-16 hours a day then fair play to you. To me that is living to work and not working to live.
For Me It Is All About The Lifestyle
So let me ask you this. If I could show you a way to remain your own boss but have a lifestyle of time and financial freedom, would you be interested?
I will leave you to ponder on that for a few moments and if you don’t mind I will talk about what I am doing.
After nearly a quarter of a century of being my own boss I have realised that things have got to change. I want to do things and see different places around the world.
I want to relocate to my home in Cyprus. My current business will not allow me to do that so I have been searching for a solution. The good news is that I have found it which I will come onto shortly.
I soon realised that I needed a business with no geographical ties. One where I did not have to knock on doors asking for work. One where I would not be reliant on people coming into my premises and one with no time constraints in relation to trading.
So going back to my question of would this interest you. Well doe’s it?
I must admit that I am sold on this concept. So much so that I am forging ahead to make my dream of Cyprus a reality.
So here are the key points on what a digital home based business lifestyle could look like for you and then I will tell you where you can get it.
- No Commuting
- No Need For Premises
- Low Overheads
- No Stock
- No Rent
- No Set Hours
- Take A Holiday Whenever You Want
- Access To Billions Of Customers
- Massive Profits
- No Need For Staff
- Everything Can Be Done From A Pc, Laptop, Tablet Or Smartphone
- You Are Still The Boss
So getting back to the solution. In February 2014 I stumbled a video presentation which totally blew me away.
There was this guy called Stuart Ross who was telling me about the company he co-founded called the Six Figure Mentors and how he could provide me with all the training, tools and resources to create a digital home based business.
You can watch the exact same video by CLICKING HERE so you can make your own conclusions as to whether this is what you are looking for.
So I will leave it up to you to decide if you want to replace your current self employed lifestyle with the lifestyle of time and financial freedom you could enjoy by having your own digital home based business.
As always I wish you well.
